I love how easy this highly nutritious smoothie is to make, requiring very little prep and very little dishes. Not to mention, this large serving costs a total of $2.00! Are you sold yet? This smoothie is great for athletes, kids, people on the go and anyone wanting a yummy, nutritious snack or simple meal. A full batch provides about 600 calories, 20 grams of protein and 13 grams of fiber, and it's packed with things we need more of - protein, omegas, and greens.


Protein is essential for growth and maintenance of body functions, playing a role in bone, muscle, cartilage, skin, and blood health. It also plays a big role in enzyme, hormone and vitamin function. In this smoothie, protein comes primarily from milk, nut butter, and flaxseeds with small amounts coming from the banana, spinach and avocado.

Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Not only does the body need these fatty acids to function, but they may also decrease risk of heart disease, Alzheimer's, depression and dementia. Omega 3's lower inflammation, which can help with joint health and asthma. This powerhouse nutrient is most commonly found in fatty fish but is also found in nuts and seeds including flaxseeds, making this smoothie a good way to get your dose.


Green vegetables are typically high in fiber and vital vitamins and minerals, including vitamin K. Most people don't get enough green vegetables, so enjoying them in a smoothie is a great way to deliver taste, flavor, and health.

  • Yields: 1 large serving


1 ripe banana (fresh or frozen)

1/2 ripe avocado

1 cup fresh spinach

1 - 1 1/2 cups milk

1-2 tablespoons peanut or almond butter

1 teaspoon honey

1 tablespoon ground flaxseed

3 ice cubes


Combine all ingredients into blender

Blend until smooth and creamy

Enjoy! (Yes, it is really that easy)
