Santa’s Milk Drive 2017
Nothing says Holiday spirit like milk, cookies, and giving. Last weekend we had it all! Many came together to make our 3rd annual Santa’s Milk Drive at Smith’s Marketplace a huge success! Milk is one of the most requested yet least donated items at Food Banks across the country. On average, people served by food banks receive the equivalent of less than 1 gallon per person per year. Thanks to foodiecrush, and her crew of Santa’s helpers decked out in cow costumes and other festive holiday attire, shoppers were merrily greeted with smiles and requests to purchase a gallon of milk for the Utah Food Bank – and in no time milk jugs were flying into carts!
Not only were patrons incredibly generous with their donations, but also grateful for the event and those who would benefit. We had a man who was once homeless praise us for the work being done and another woman who was brought to tears. We even had a generous donation from the Salt Lake fireman who made quite an entrance!
In 2 ½ hours, patrons donated nearly 250 gallons for the Utah Food Bank. We thank all of those who donated and helped make this event happen. These events make a difference, and we couldn’t do them without the collaboration we have as a community!
